I’ve actually gone through two of these watches in the last few years (due to myself breaking the first one). Its got pretty good quality and it’s easy to use. I have nothing really to compare it to, but on it’s own it works well for what I wanted it for. The only advice/gripe I have is if you buy one do not install the driver that comes with it. Perhaps they fixed this by now but installing the driver made it so I couldn’t use the device. I have to go to my brother or a friend to get videos and pictures off the thing.

This watch is okay, but not great. In the copy I got, all the functions work, but none of them perfectly.

First, the instructions are abundantly unclear, so it takes a good deal of experimentation to get it working. Here’s a summary:

One side of the watch has two “buttons”: a time-setting knob for the mechanical watchface, and the opening for the microphone. The microphone cover unscrews if you want to change it for any reason.

The other side has three “buttons”. Going clockwise from the wrist strap…
The first has two functions: hold to power on/off; and once “on”, push quickly to start/stop recording video. When turning on, the LED in the watch face glows pink, then turns blue for “on”. When turning off, the LED blinks red twice and goes out. When starting or stopping video, the LED flashes blue three times.

The second is the USB port. Unscrew the cap and stick in the adapter.

The Third has Two functions: Photos and Sound Recordings. Once the watch is “on”, push this button once to take a photo (camera is in the watch face; LED blinks Red once). Or, hold this button to start a sound recording. The watch blinks red three times, and at that point the voice recording has started. When finished recording, push the button again to stop (three more red blinks).

Be advised that the performance has some limitations – not too surprising for such a small device. The photos are all right. The video is good, but experiences skips every several seconds. The sound is pretty faint, so if recording a voice record, speak pretty close to the microphone. And all the sound recordings are dominated by the sound of the watch ticking. As always, experiment a little to get used to it.

The time stamp on the different files, which was important to me, keeps very accurate “elapsed time”, but there is no way to reset it to “actual time”. That is, the one I got thought it was Feb. 2009 when it arrived. The date stamp has changed by the correct number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds since then, but I cannot reset it to the proper current date and time. So if the time stamp is important, you’ll have to record the “initial time stamp” and its “actual time equivalent”, and then compute the events recorded based on elapsed time from there.

I’ve only used it a few times but it seems to work as it is supposed to.
For what it’s worth I’ve actually gotten a few compliments on the watch itself just for the appearance. Luckily, I dont think anyone knew the actual function of this device or I would have looked silly.

It takes decent video. Records decent sound.

For the price, I would say its a great value overall compared to other devices that do the same thing.

The transfer cable is not a USB, so transferring a 100 Mb file will take more than a few minutes. In case that is an issue.
