    Fairly Impressed!, October 18, 2012

All in all I am fairly impressed with how well such an inexpensive system performs. I have since bought 4 additional sensors and two extra key chain remotes. A strong 4 out of 5 stars in my book! I purchased this unit based on the previous reviews that I read. I compared several other do it yourself wireless systems and decided that the PiSector Wireless Home Security Alarm System kit with auto dial was the best bang for the buck. I was very skeptical about the DIY Wireless systems because I read that many consumer end users were complaining about false alarms during the day and throughout the night.

The system was fairly simple to install and program the sensors, however; it did take a bit of tinkering to figure out. I have had it installed for 5 days now and I have experienced 4 “false” alarms, if you will but I figured out why. Below is a description of my findings while installing and programming each component as well as what I learned during trouble shooting the “false” alarms.

    Installation and Programming:

    1. Read the entire manual before trying to install any part of the system. Once you’ve read it you’ll know exactly where you need to reference when you face the little problems I’m about to describe for you.

    2. When you begin programming each sensor you must first enter the 4 digit factory standard password “1234” – you will hear two beeps. these beeps indicate that you have successfully opened the ability to place a command for the system to perform. The command for programming sensors and remotes is “7#” if you at any point accidentally enter “7*” you will erase any previous sensor programming and will have to follow the steps to reprogram them.

KEY NOTE: If you wish to program each door or window sensor to chime when the alarm is not armed to indicate that a door or window is being opened then do not program the infrared sensors until last. Keep them in the “off” position or do not assemble them until you are ready to program them. THE REASON: If you install and program each sensor and infrared detector to chime each time they are triggered, the system will chime every time you pass by the infrared sensors. (annoying) Once you have verified that each sensor is in place where you want them and each functions appropriately you will want to assign the sensors to different zones.

SETTING UP ZONES: The manual does not describe how to do this very well so here are my notes for you. You will end up reprogramming each sensor once you have them in place because chances are that you will change you mind as to how you want them zoned. I have my zones set up like so: First floor = zone 1, Second Floor = zone 2, Third floor = zone 3, All interior infrared sensors = Zone 4. (This allows me to program zone 4/interior infrared sensors separately to silence the chime while the security system is set for “Home” status) Here is what you do to program zones:

Enter “1234”(factory password) 7# (programming sensor mode) 01 (zone one)”confirm” each time you enter a code the system will chime/beep twice to indicate that the code was accepted successfully and is now waiting for your command. After pressing “Confirm” your main panel display will show “01”. This means that any sensor you trigger will now be programmed as zone 1. After you have finished triggering each sensor that you want to be categorized as zone 1 then press “return” or wait 30 seconds after programming the last sensor. The main panel will again beep/chime two times to indicate that your programming was accepted. Repeat this step until each sensor is programmed for each zone. REMEMBER: Don’t install and turn on the infrared sensors while running around the house trying to trigger the sensors during the zone programming mode. If you do you’ll accidentally set each infrared sensor and therefore will become reprogrammed into the zone you are currently programming. (learned that the hard way) 🙂

    FALSE ALARMS-
The system comes with an Anti-interference mode and an Anti-decode mode. Although these options are great to protect against someone sitting outside in the driveway next door trying to hack the frequency your alarm is operating on, however; there are many other types of devices that operate on a similar frequency such as radar detectors, police scanners, other alarm systems, automotive key less entry remotes, garage door openers etc. TO PREVENT FALSE ALARMS DO NOT ACTIVATE THE ANTI-INTERFERENCE FUNCTION!!! The same goes for the Anti-decode function. If you activate the Anti-Decode function than you can’t Disarm or “Unlock” the home security system from the key chain remote control.

KEY NOTE: Make sure to install each sensor on a relatively flat surface so that plenty of surface area of the 3M adhesive is being used. I made the mistake of trying to make a sensor fit into the crevasse of a door frame molding. Yea,…

We had a break-in and my wife demanded we do something. Not being able to afford an alarm system company I searched for one I could install. After reading reviews of this system it looked to fit the bill. When the box arrived it did not have “PiSector” on it, so I notified Amazon and “Fortress Secure Solutions” about it. I was informed immediately that it is the identical system without a PiSector” sticker. Mike at Fortress guaranteed it has same warranty and technical support. He gave me his phone number and told me to call if any issues installing. As the other reviews stated, the manual could be written better. I did call Mike at Fortress for assistance and he got me up and running. Once I got passed the initial programing issues, I have now installed magnetic detectors on the doors of the house (have cats- I don’t want false alarms), motion detectors in the motorhome and shed. Installed the wireless siren outside and wired siren inside. The system works great. I set it up to call my cell, and it does. While testing the neighbor from down the block came running to see if all was OK. I did have one detectors fall, the double back tape let go on a motion detector, but that’s my fault. The mount is supposed to be screwed in. There is one controller in the box that doesn’t tell you what it is. I made the mistake of pushing the button. It is a panic alarm, and the inside siren is LOUD.
System is well worth the price and the customer service and technical support I got from Mike at Fortress was OUTSTANDING. If you buy this system and run into an issue don’t hesitate to call them.

I never installed or programmed a home security system before, I was impressed at how easy this system was to get up and running. The manual is a little weak but all the information I needed was there. In less than three hours I had the system installed and programmed with 3 zones and 14 sensors. Another hour and it was linked to a local alarm company and I was done! Customer service was great helping me out with one missing piece and installation questions on the outside horn. I wouldn’t hesitate Recommending the product or the company to anyone.PiSector Wireless Home Security Alarm System Kit with Auto Dial S02
